  Manual Labor

Computers just became an outsourced memory upgrade. The processing of information was a completely different story - the type of mental work that we have not yet learned to conduct by someone else's forces. The Human Colossus has always done the calculations on its own. Computers have changed this. The factory machines allowed us to outsource physical processes - we put the material, the machines physically process it and spit out the result. Computers could do the same with processing information. The software was like a factory machine for information processing. These new machines for storing, organizing and processing information were extremely useful. Computers began to play a central role in the daily activities of companies and governments. By the end of the 1980s, it became the norm among individuals to have one's own assistant for the brain. And then another leap occurred. In the early 90's we taught millions of lone machine brains to communicate with each other.
