What is the use of swing check valve?

A swing check valve is a type of check valve used to prevent backflow in pipelines. It works by allowing fluid to flow in one direction and automatically closing to prevent backflow in the opposite direction.

The swing check valve gets its name from the swinging motion of the disc, which pivots on a hinge or pin at the top of the valve. When fluid flows in the forward direction, the disc swings open to allow the fluid to pass through. When the flow stops or reverses, the disc swings closed under its own weight, aided by gravity and fluid pressure, to prevent backflow.

Swing check valve installation:

Installing a swing check valve is a straightforward process that can be done in a few simple steps:

1. Identify the installation location: Determine the location where the swing check valve will be installed. Make sure that the valve is compatible with the type of fluid, temperature, and pressure conditions of the pipeline.

2. Prepare the pipeline: Clean the pipeline and remove any debris or foreign objects that may interfere with the valve's operation. Install the pipeline supports and flanges if necessary.

3. Install the valve: Position the swing check valve in the pipeline and align it with the flange bolt holes. Tighten the bolts evenly and gradually, following the recommended torque values specified by the valve manufacturer.

4. Connect the pipes: Connect the inlet and outlet pipes to the valve using appropriate piping materials and fittings. Make sure that the pipes are properly aligned and supported to prevent stress on the valve.

5. Test the valve: Once the valve is installed, test it by running fluid through the pipeline in the forward direction. The swing check valve should open and allow the fluid to flow through. Then, stop the flow and check that the valve closes tightly to prevent backflow.

6. Perform regular maintenance: It is important to perform regular maintenance on the swing check valve to ensure its proper operation and longevity. This may include cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting the valve periodically.
