Data Science Course: What Is Logistic Regression? | Intellipaat

  Computer - Multimedia Classes

Logistic Regression is a statistical method used for binary classification, which means predicting a binary outcome, typically labeled as either 0 or 1 (or "yes" or "no", "true" or "false", etc.). Despite its name including "regression," it is a classification algorithm rather than a regression algorithm.

The goal of logistic regression is to estimate the probability that a given input belongs to a certain category. It works by modeling the relationship between the dependent variable (which is binary or categorical) and one or more independent variables or features. The output of logistic regression is a probability score that maps to the interval [0, 1], which can then be converted into a binary outcome using a chosen threshold.
