Are you a dog owner? Have you ever noticed that your dog needs trimming of its nails? Yes, indeed it needs a good trimming of its nails if they have overgrown but most of the dog owners ignore it. Dog nails grow rapidly and they need proper trimming to maintain the hygiene of the pet and to avoid any mishap due to sharp nails. If you do not trim on time, they can either harm your dog while scratching its skin or any member of your house if playing with it. This issue becomes severe even with the best apartment dogs as they often remain indoors and have little playing or walking activity.

Are you planning to have an emotional support animal?  Most probably you will have a dog and if it is so you need to learn about the needs of a dog. Among others, trimming of nails is one of its requirements. But before you get your dog you need to have an ESA letter assigned from a practicing health professional. As per ESA rules, your pet is your responsibility all the time so, before you apply for an ESA, you are advised to know the rules and regulations that you are supposed to follow.

You should have to take care of your dog in every aspect regarding its hygiene and health. You should notice your dog's health after the regular interval and should give him medical facilities if needed. You should also have to consider your dog's growth and physical appearance. You have to groom your dog by bathing him and trimming his nails whenever required. To trim its nails, you should search for the best dog nail clippers as substandard clippers may not serve the purpose well.

Dog Nail Clipper Guide

1-  Leave the quick uncut

The quick of the nail of your dog is not to be cut as it contains a blood vessel and if you cut it you may hurt your dog. It is painful too. All you are supposed to do is to cut the overgrown nail so aim for it.

2-  Use Good Nail Clippers

If the nail clipper is not good, it may make your job tiresome and annoying for both you and your dog. You can also use a power grinder. It can ease your job to a large extent.

3-  Don’t Leave Nails Untrimmed for a Long Period

It is the tendency of dog owners that they leave the overgrown nails untrimmed for a long period. This can result in thickening of the nails that may not be easy to trim and hygiene issues for your dog. So, trim your dog's nails after a particular interval such as three months.

4-  Do Not Trim All Nails At One Time

Dogs do not like nail trimming, so if you push it hard, you may annoy your dog. It is recommended to trim the nails in three to four sessions. Look for the mood of your dog. If it is mischievous or playful leave the idea as it will be difficult for you to keep your dog calm during nail trimming. Try it when you have emotional support dog letter and your dog are seriously thinking about doing something creative. Leisure time is the best time to trim a dog's nails.

It is better to trim the front nails first as it can assure your dog that you are not doing anything that may disturb it.

6-  Move Gradually

Don’t rush while trimming the nails of your dog.  Make him feel good and joyful this whole activity. If you rush to end the job, you may injure your pet. Therefore, take precautions and work slowly.
